I live in South Bay and would regularly drive to Willow Glen for meals at Limón. The crispy pork chaufa was delicious. It hit all the right notes. And I literally used the chaufa to swipe up the leftover sauce from the brussel sprouts. The team onsite was friendly and very attentive. They also were very kind natured when our dog kept laying in the middle of their path: we're sorry! Enjoyed the lively feel both inside and outside the restaurant and needed to restrain myself from dancing when I went to the restroom.

We're not usually in Walnut Creek, but we wanted to meet up with my cousin and her husband from Fairfield and chose a location sort of in between. She suggested Limon and we were up for trying something different. We came on a warm and sunny Sunday. The sidewalks were bustling and the roads were stacked, but despite arriving right in the middle of the lunch hour none of the restaurants, including this place, was very busy. We were seated outdoors, which was perfect to enjoy the sunshine instead of the rather dark indoor dining room. There were a lot of interesting things on the menu, including some enticing entrees, but we decided to go light with just a handful of tapas dishes. On our table today: Chicharron de pollo - grilled chicken pieces served with a spicy lime vinaigrette and some yucca fries. Everyone liked this, especially the dipping sauce, but I found the pieces to be a little on the dry side even though it was thigh meat. Jalea - shrimp, calamari, and fish with yucca fries served with a yuzu aioli dipping sauce. The menu doesn't describe the preparation, so we were a little surprised that the seafood was battered and fried. We would have preferred a fresher preparation. But it was still pretty good. The shrimp were fat and the fish was moist, and there were plenty of tentacle-y pieces of squid. Camarones crocantes - battered shrimp coated in a sriracha sauce. Again, the shrimp was cooked well and the flavor of the sauce had a slight hint of heat, but not as spicy as the sriracha description might imply. Empanadas - we got two "flights" of these, each of which includes a beef, chicken, cheese, and veggie (mushroom and cheese) empanada. These were a hit. They were all fairly good-sized - big enough to share each among two people. I assumed that I would prefer the meat empanadas, but surprisingly the beef was the least liked in our group. The cheese was probably the favorite, and I liked the veggie one just as much. Even though we didn't order any large entrees, this still was quite filling. Prices were kind of high IMO - I don't think I've quite adjusted to the higher cost of everything. For the meal above, plus one margarita, one soda, and a couple bottles of water, the bill for the five of us was about $175.

Third time at this location, hoping for a better experience--but unfortunately, not much has changed. Service was still slow; we waited quite a while for a waiter to come to our table and eventually had to go inside to ask for someone to take our order, despite the restaurant not being that busy. Food was a mix. The ceviches were decent, and the Saltado Mar y Tierra and chicha were the highlights. But the jalea was just as disappointing as before--looked sad, tasted the same. Limón as a chain is solid, but the Oakland and Burlingame locations are much better when it comes to service and consistency. Really hoping this location improves!

I came here for dinner with my sister and cousin in love. We did not have reservations but were seated almost immediately. The ambiance was pretty lively and not too rowdy. I ordered the following: Truffle mushroom empanadas- 9/10 Wild caught Peruvian Mahi Mahi- 9/10 Everything tasted fresh, hot, and flavorful.
